Managed by HARCVS, we visit elderly and vulnerable people on a regular basis in their own homes. We signpost people to other services, monitor and support with their physical and emotional wellbeing, provide befriending (a listening ear), lunch clubs and a referral service.

Improving an individual’s wellbeing, independence and quality of life
The British Red Cross is working in partnership with Harrogate and Rural District Clinical Commissioning Group, Harrogate District Council and North Yorkshire Public Health to enable people aged over 65 to live independently in the Masham community. A member of the Red Cross team will meet you to find out more about your interests, needs and lifestyle. We will offer short-term support and companionship to help you attend relevant local activities.
The project brings together health professionals such as GPs, community matrons and district nurses with social services to support individuals living in the Masham area.

A door to door driver service for elderly or disabled people who cannot access public transport to take them to medical, dental or social appointments, day care, shopping or on trips to visit a sick relative. Those wishing to use the service should contact our scheduler Malcolm, giving several days notice. They will be asked to reimburse our volunteer drivers 45p per mile plus a £1 booking fee for each journey.
We are looking for new volunteers to join our team to help elderly and vulnerable people in rural areas. Even small amounts of time offered on an irregular basis can be of great assistance to the service.
