Woodland Mindfulness Walks

New for 2019, join Forest Bathing UK for a woodland session of mindfulness in 200 acres of historic lakes and gardens at Swinton Country Club & Spa. The woodland walks comprise guided activities and exercises that harness the trees’ natural essentials oils, which have a beneficial impact on the nervous system when inhaled, reducing stress levels, balancing mood disorders and promoting a sense of wellbeing. £20 per person (£15 for Country Club Spa Members) including a two hour guided walk and herbal tea.

Woodland & Walking Festival

Swinton Bivouac near Masham will play host to a brand new Woodland & Walking Festival on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September 2019.
Aimed at families, walkers and nature lovers of all ages, the festival will offer an array of alfresco activities in and around the woodland at Druid’s Temple from stone carving and willow weaving to foraging and forest bathing, orienteering and outdoor yoga.
Visitors will be entertained throughout the day by live music at Bivouac Café Bistro, falconry displays and art workshops, alongside an all-day BBQ and woodland refreshments in the Druid’s Plantation. Other activities include mountain biking at Swinton Bivouac, a choice of walking trails with scenic picnic spots on the wider Estate, ArtisOn craft tent and forest school sessions.
Entry to the Woodland & Walking Festival costs £10 per car (includes entry for all passengers) with additional charges for ticketed events. Entry is free for residents of Swinton Bivouac and all dogs are welcome. Open from 10am – 4.30pm.

31st Snape 10k & 5k Fun Run

UCI World Road Cycling Championships – Elite Men’s Time Trial

From 21st-29th September, Yorkshire hosts the World Road Racing Championships, a series of nine races for elite, age group and disability cyslists, with the winner wearing the prestigious rainbow jersey. All races finish on a town centre circuit in Harrogate. With the cream of the world’s ‘against the clock’ road cyclists including 2018 Tour de France winner Geraint Thomas. Riders will come into Masham over the bridge and The Avenue, cycle up Silver Street, Church Street and Park Street, and then out towards Grewelthorpe.

Using the same route as the 2017 Tour de Yorkshire, coming into Masham from Healey and Fearby and passing through Westholme Road, Red Lane, Park Square, Church Street and Silver Street and out towards West Tanfield and Ripon. Will Yorkshire’s Lizzie Deignan repeat 2017’s dominant win?
