Mark Clayton: Chaplain at Martin House Children’s Hospice.
Martin House is an Hospice for children and young people, which began in 1987. At the time it was the second children’s hospice in the country, following Helen House in Oxford. Richard Seed who was the Vicar of Saint Mary’s Boston Spa had trained in Oxford and got to know Sister Frances Dominica who had the vision for Helen House. He subsequently became one of the founding trustees at Martin House. Richard invited the Order of Holy Paracelete sisters from Whitby to participate in the work of Martin House and they lived and worked and prayed alongside the staff there for the first years of the hospice’s development. The hospice serves over three hundred families from the Leeds, Bradford and York areas as well as North Yorkshire.
Tickets £3.50 available from Kate Cleeves (01765 689255)
