Black Sheep Brewery was established in 1992 by Paul Theakston when the brewery run by his family for five generations was sold to a national brewer. Paul, fiercely independent, took his own path, becoming the ‘Black Sheep’ of the family by setting up his own brewery in the very same Yorkshire town, Masham.

There’s no better way to experience our beer than at the source – visit the Black Sheep Brewery Visitor Centre for an unforgettable day out. Join one of our iconic brewery tours and learn how we make our eclectic range of beers, shepherded by one of our knowledgeable tour guides. Then, head to the ‘baa…r’ for a pint, grab some proper Yorkshire food or check out our Sheepy Shop! Open daily from 12pm, but make sure to book in advance!
