Malin Lewis

Masham Town Hall, Little Market Place, Masham
19:30 - 22:00

Innovator and award winning multi-instrumentalist Malin Lewis melds Scottish West Coast tradition with a newly invented, self-made bagpipe alongside stars Sally Simpson (Fiddle) and Ali Hutton (Guitar). Hair-tingling, philosophical and dance-inducing melodies inspired by European folk traditions, queerness and the universe.

Having toured across the UK, Canada and Europe, Malin released their debut album Halocline in May 2024 on Hudson Records., which has been longlisted for the 2024 Scottish Album of the Year Award. A Halocline is a visible layer that forms between salt and fresh water and is home to a unique microbial ecosystem. Halocline is a metaphor for Malin’s trans identity and living in a space in between; a beautiful space between a binary.

Malin’s unique timbre is born from the deep connection that comes from making and composing for their own instrument. Their one of a kind two-octave smallpipe creates a whole new world of sound, captivating audiences at every opportunity. You can see the trio in action here and here.

Inspired by the likes of Martyn Bennett, Duncan Chisholm and Sharron Shannon, Malin’s music is as lively as it is thought-provoking and sensitive. Recently Malin has been recording music for the Saiorse Ronan film The Outrun and learning the tradition of the extinct Finnish Bagpipes.

Tickets £16, at Masham Community Office, 01765-680200.

The NE Street Band – playing Bruce Springsteen

Masham Town Hall, Little Market Place, Masham
19:00 - 22:30

We are delighted to welcome The NE Street Band for their debut appearance at the Town Hall. This six-piece band are the North East’s only dedicated tribute to performing the music of Bruce Springsteen & the E-Street Band

The band who are now in their 7th year, continue to grow & perform regularly across the North East & around the country. They perform the classic hits you expect like Born to Run, Hungry Heart, and Dancing in the Dark, but like The Boss himself have a reputation for a varied and audience-engaging set list which covers all genres of Springsteen’s back catalogue – including fan favourites, rarities, iconic covers, solo and stripped back acoustic versions as well as several tracks from ‘The Seeger Sessions’ concerts too, which offers something very different & a must for any Bruce fan to enjoy.

The reviews of this band continue to impress so we are naturally delighted to have them performing here for a brilliant night of Springsteen songs. Check them out at www.NESB.co.uk, and here are links to their fabulous Born to Run, and their Seeger Sessions version of If I Should Fall Behind.

Doors 7pm, on stage 8pm.

Tickets £15, available at Masham Community Office, 01765-680200.
