Masham Strollers

Wellbeing walks are short (approximately 30-40 minutes), accessible, friendly, free walks around Masham suitable for those that are new or returning to activity. All walks are led by trained walk leaders, will take place over easy ground, although there may be some uneven surfaces/pavements, around the streets, alleys and open green spaces in Masham. They are circular starting at Mashamshire Community Office every Friday morning, meeting from 10am for a 10.10am start. After the walk join us at the Town Hall for tea/coffee/biscuits kindly sponsored by Morrisons, Ripon.

We’re delighted to advise that Clifton Castle have an open garden event on 18th June from 2pm-5pm and have kindly offered to donate the proceeds from this event in aid of our building purchase.

Impressive gardens and parkland with fine views over lower Wensleydale. Formal walks through the wooded ‘pleasure grounds’ feature bridges and follies, cascades and abundant wildflowers. The walled kitchen garden is similar to how it was set out in the C19. Recent wildflower meadows have been laid out with modern sculptures.

Funds raised to go towards the purchase of Mashamshire Community Office.

Jervaulx Hall are opening their private garden to the public for this special evening solstice event. The eight acre garden is adjacent to Jervaulx Abbey and includes Abbey Mill ruins with views of River Ure. Mixed borders and beds, croquet lawn, parterre, glasshouse and exquisite sculptures. A small vegetable garden and fernery. Magnificent older trees and woodland areas with choice trees and shrubs planted in recent years, include magnolia, acer, sorbus and betula.

Catering will be available to purchase on site with wine and soft drinks available from Corks and Cases and Haregill Lodge will be providing delicious “afternoon tea boxes” to include a sandwich, sausage roll and cake as well as hot drinks.

Transport to and from Masham will be available through Mashamshire Community Office for an additional fee of £5 (return) to cover costs. Booking is essential. Enquire directly if interested.
