WW1 Walk – Old Station to Breary Banks

Old Station,, Station Yard, Low Burton, Masham, Ripon HG4 4DF
10:00

Join us to commemorate the First World War through walking ‘in the footsteps of the Leeds Pals’. Starting from The Old Station just outside Masham, we will walk to the site of the Leeds Pals memorial at Breary Banks for a short service in memory of ‘the lads from Leeds’. We hope to be joined by members of the military and there will be stops en route at Masham Market Place and Fearby, where there will be refreshments, an exhibition and activities.
The event is free of charge and you can join us for all or part of the walk, or at key locations on the route. Booking is required for the walk as places are limited and lunch will be provided for those doing the whole walk.
If you would like to book for the walk please visit www.nidderdaleaonb.eventbrite.co.uk or ring 01423 712950.
We are also looking for volunteers to help with the event so if you are interested we would love to hear from you. Please contact Amanda Walters, WW1 project officer, amanda.peacock@harrogate.gov.uk or 01423 551664
This event is just one in a series of events being organised as part of our heritage lottery funded, First World War Centenary project, “Nidderdale AONB & the First World War: ‘Leeds Pals, PoWs and the home front”. Full details can be found at www.nidderdaleaonb.org.uk/Pages/WW1-Project.aspx
