Aly Bain & Phil Cunningham

Masham Town Hall, Little Market Place, Masham
19:30

Two virtuoso musicians and some gripping humour – unbeatable! Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham have toured together since 1988 to packed concert halls all over the world. They recorded their first album ‘The Pearl’ in 1994 and followed it with many more highly acclaimed albums including the ‘Five and Twenty’ CD to celebrate their 25th Anniversary. The pair are winners of the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards BEST DUO Award, and Aly Bain received a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013. Aly is the best known and most significant fiddle player in the Celtic tradition and he is rightly regarded as Scotland’s supreme fiddler. Accordion player Phil has been named as one of Scotland’s 25 most influential people. His mastery of the instrument has led to him working with the likes of Mark Knopfler, James Taylor, Rosanne Cash and Midge Ure.
Together Aly and Phil are “simply the best traditional musicians you are ever likely to hear” (Mike Russell, Glasgow Herald).
