Emma Spick began ‘painting’ with wool following a course in wet-felting at the Artison studios in Masham. Emma lives and works in the Yorkshire Dales and many of her wool ‘paintings’ are inspired by the natural beauty of the landscape and wildlife. She works with wool from local producers wherever possible, using different fleece types to create texture and depth. Many of her pictures include wool locks from a local flock of Wensleydale sheep. Pictures are first wet-felted to create a pre-felt background and then detail is added using needle-felting techniques. More work can be found at: www.emmaspick.co.uk or on Facebook at ‘Emma Spick, Felt Art and Bespoke cards’
Yorkshire based, Rod Birchall took up art in 2014. He built up a range of skills by attending a variety of evening classes and workshops. He is now a member of the Harrogate & Nidderdale Art Group.
Rod likes to experiment with a range of media, not necessarily following conventions, often mixing and layering to bring the best of everything to the paintings
Never denying the influence of the impressionists, Rod aims to capture the essence of light and colour offered up by the ever changing natural world.
