The Ingilbys of Ripley Castle – Sir Thomas Ingilby
The Ingilby family of Ripley Castle have got themselves into – and survived more scrapes than most. During the last 700 years Ingilbys have featured prominently on the wrong side of religious persecutions, civil wars, attempts to commit mass murder and regicide and sensationally bad land transactions. Their history is a microcosm of the history of the history of Great Britain; gripping and entertaining, enriched by elements of tragedy, drama and farce. Underneath it all lie some lessons from the events of past centuries that are still relevant today.
Non members are very welcome and are charged £3 per meeting.
