Getting through the Daily Grind: North Yorkshire Family Life and the Nineteenth-Century Rural Economy. – Dr Graham Rogers.
Dr Rogers is Former Principal Lecturer in History and Reader at Edge Hill University, Lancashire, and has a research background in agrarian social and economic history.
His talk takes the theme of tracing the impact of economic and social change on rural labour, family life and economy during the course of the nineteenth century. It will focus on the experience of several villages in the north-east of the county and it will demonstrate how a wide range of archive sources can be used to construct a vivid picture of social life of the period.
Meetings are held in Masham Town Hall and begin at 7.30pm. non members are very welcome and are charged £3.00 per meeting.
