York’s Guildhalls – Professor Kate Giles of York University
York’s medievil guilhalls are a rare survival of its rich and vibrant medievil civic culture. Built from the late 14th century onwards, they preserve evidence of the religous, social and mercantile activities of the fraternities and craftspeople who built them, and each building poses a series of puzzles for archaeologists and historians to decode, to bring their story to life. In this lecture Dr Giles will the results of her research on these building, providing you want a virtual our and sharing her passion for these often-overlooked reminders of our medieval past.
