Visit Swinton Park and celebrate the art currently being produced by artists from the North of England.
Exhibition runs from 21st June to 16th August (closed 23rd July). Private View today where the art will be complemented by musical entertainment from renowned opera singer, Ione Cumming. New Light celebrates and promotes contemporary art in the North of England. The charity offers many exciting opportunities to Northern artists, with the main event being a biennial, high profile prize exhibition held in the region’s most stunning spaces: this year, the chosen venue is the Bowes Museum in County Durham. Shortlisted artists have the opportunity to be awarded one of the following prizes: The Valeria Sykes Prize, which includes a cash award of £10,000; The Patron’s Choice Award, a separate award of £2,500 for the work chosen by our main patron; The Swinton Foundation Prize, sponsored by Swinton Park Hotel and awarded to the most promising emerging artist; and a Printmaking Prize.
