Photographs of New Zealand

By Mandy Assheton Newey from 28th February – 27th March.
Photographs and cameras have been part of Mandy’s life as long as she can remember. Her father was a keen amateur photographer and always carried a battered Pentax on all weekend outings and holidays. Cameras appealed to Mandy from a young age. She loved something about the cold black bodies of them and the magic of creating a picture with something so functional. Her 1st camera, aged 9, was a Kodak Instamatic. She left it on the bus during a school trip to Longleat! She graduated to a Praktica in her early teens and went on from there. Her favourite camera is still an old Nikon F2 which is like carrying a brick! Mandy photographs anything – nature, landscape, people, still life, places. The photos in Mandy’s display at the Blue Light Gallery span 30 years of her life in New Zealand. Perhaps the images may inspire you to make that long journey as New Zealand is a unique and beautiful country. For more information email Mandy: emmjasshe@hotmail.co.uk
